You know what I love about Summer? Barbecues, Fireworks, the scent of Honeysuckles, Vacations and free clothes.

WHAT?!?! Free Clothes?!?! Yes. It’s contest time again! I am in love with the clothes from Down East Basics! They have some of the most fashionably modest clothes! I got this dress:

I am in LOVE with it. When I first opened the package I thought the white might be see through since it felt so lightweight and thin. NO. It’s not! I put it on and it’s SO super comfy and INCREDIBLY flattering on my curvy body! It’s fabulous! The colors are even more vibrant in person. The V-neck is deep, so to keep it ultra modest I pair it with a Pumpkin or Coral or Teal colored cami underneath. Then I throw on some assorted bangles, and some gladiators and call it a day! On a chillier night I throw on a cropped denim jacket! It’s versatile. Dress it up for Sunday morning Church service or dress down for a fun-filled casually dressed day at the Fair!

Buenos Aires Summer Days: Those boots are to DIE for! To mix it up, sub the belt that comes with the top for a brown wider one!

My absolute MUST have boot from Ruche! So fab and SO original!

Those Gladiator Sandals are incredible! The tights I will show an upclose of because they are TOO fab! I picked this because I wanted to show you how you turn a basic plain dress into super chic by accessorizing!

This is another one of my must haves...I WILL be rocking these this summer!

Cherry Blossom Ruffle Dress! It's a tube dress but this picture shows the modest way to wear it: Add a lightweight Cardigan!

The name of this dress gets the Seal song stuck in my head! HAHA! I think for some people this might be a tad short for a dress, rock it with leggings, skinnys, or shorts!

A statement necklace with charm to spare! Remeber when you where a statement necklace that nothing else is crazy competing for attention: in other words, keep the rest simple.

This looks way more expensive than it is! What a value for another statement like piece!

I think I would pair this with the Ariel ring! I LOVEEE seahorses! How could you not with these so reasonably priced?!?

Talk about unique! Resembling dream catchers! Will look great with nearly anything...I'd flaunt it with a native inspired sun dress, and my minnetonka knee high moccasins!

This flat is just FANTASTIC in black! The native beading gives it a chic touch to a summer dress in a funky print or a maxi dress.

Other than the native beading detail, my favorite thing about these flats is the fact that they’re ORANGE! Orange is a great color for summer! It looks great on every skin tone! [at least in this shade..plus it's on your feet & not next to your face]

I am NOT a huge fan of wedges unless they follow one of the following: Narrow wedge, Not a platform or if it’s a Low wedge. This wedge works because it’s low and not a platform! Turquoise is a fantabulous color for summer!

Positively ADORE these flats! This is a VERY wearable way to use an animal print, especially for those who aren’t sure if they can or want to pull off wearing it on their clothing!

For those that really like non traditional colors that leap off your feet! Adding this can doll up a monochromatic themed outfit!

I will always show a red high heel when I do a shoe shopping guide…It’s so classic!

The detailing on cutesygirl.com shoes are absolutely FANTASTIC!

These are pretty basic but the gold color & the buckle give it just that extra touch.

I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with the flower on this. The Gold is Ultra Chic!

This silver sandal is really going to POP against tanned skin! Casual enough to wear during the day but the beaded detail is dressy enough to wear for a night out, without hurting your feet if you’re not a high heels person!

The site I’m talking about is Suddenly Darling. The creator is the spunkiest “darling” young lady that I would be happy to let my daughters look up to! I say young lady because the the creator, Katelyn Rose, was only 16 years old when the site got up and running. Now 17 with Suddenly Darling in it’s second year, Katelyn displays a graceful poise & wisdom that I hope more teens want to possess! She’s really helped to make modesty a teen movement. Suddenly Darling is not just a site about how to dress modestly! There are videos, contests for darlings [what every member is called] who give back to others. Suddenly Darling is a community. There are groups to join and question and answer series and more! I refer every teen I come into contact with about this site. So pass it on!
Katelyn was so kind to let me interview her for the site. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

1. What made you decide to make Suddenly Darling a reality?
I’ve had a passion for fashion ever since I was young and modesty has always been on my heart. The word “modesty” seems to have a negative connotation and is often put in a box where only turtlenecks and oversized shirts are allowed. I don’t think those clothing items are bad, but there are so many options out there that it seems like the stereotypical view of modest dressing could use a bit of a make-over. I wanted to somehow show girls they can still dress fashionably and modest at the same time. So in 2008, my dad and I were talking about what I might be able to do to make a difference, while jumpstarting my desires to work in fashion. That’s when we came up with the fashion website, SuddenlyDarling.com. I thought “let’s not only show girls how to dress fashionably but also modest”!

2. Something unique about you?
Well my family calls me Pollyanna because I always look at the bright side of thing’s. She was a girl who always played this thing called “The Glad Game”. I don’t do that exactly, but I do like finding good things, especially in not so good situations. Instead of getting bummed, I just look at the positive side, learn what I can, and then move on.

3. Best thing that’s happened since Suddenly Darling launched?
Having the opportunity to be a role mode through Suddenly Darling is probably the best feeling in the world. Since the launch, we have gotten tons of members and just thinking I get to connect with all of them is a great feeling! It also gives them a chance to encourage other girls and have the same opportunity to help each other out. That’s what is so great about having an online community of girls. It’s like we’re there for each other.

4. Biggest lesson learned in 2009?
The biggest lesson I learned would probably be patience. A website is a lot of work and it’s easy to have a goal set but it takes a lot longer then you think. So I’ve learned you have to be patient and just trust in the Lord.

5. How many scarves do you own?
Oh I’m gonna have to think about that one! Hmm..I believe I own up to 10 to 12 scarves! You can never have enough!

6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? in 10?
I hope to be a wife and to have my own fashion line that not only reflects my own style, but also styles that other girls can relate too and afford. I hope to bring reality to the runway!

7. Favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when I was 4, my brother’s would set up the camera and interview me like I was on a talk show! I was extremely shy when I was little but every time they set up the camera, i would break out of my shell!

8. First song that comes to mind?
You Don’t Know Me by Michael Bublè. That is one of my favorite songs!

9. Favorite can’t live without product?
I can not live without my Pink Sugar perfume. It smells like vanilla and cotton candy! It’s amazing!

10. What’s coming up for Suddenly Darling in 2010?
We have tons of new exciting changes we are making to the site to make Suddenly Darling better then ever! You can look forward to more interviews with celebrity’s, hair and makeup tips, tons of more outfits and more! It’s going to be an excited year!

brimming with inspiration and her music is absolutely fantastic, so definitely give it a listen. So what I did today was do uncomfortable things that in the end made me feel more confident!

1. NO makeup

2. NOT doing my hair

3. NOT fussing with my outfit

4. NOT complaining about how the pictures look

5. NO retouching of photos [not even brightening or contrast!]

6. HAVING A TOTAL BLAST!!!! [well...I always have a total blast...but more so today]

So take a leap and give this a try! I promise you’ll have fun! Be creative and love yourself how you were made! You are unique and that’s not a bad thing! It’s the best thing about you: There’s NO ONE like you!
